S'moe Work

So, it has been a whiles since I have produced a good quantity of work but, now I am working on multiple pieces at once.

Above is a sketch that I drew on the way home from Detroit last weekend.  It is the basis for the next two paintings bellow.  I am pushing for a new step forward.  New characteristics and a new direction for my compositions.  I'm not saying that I am leaving my old style because that would be a big lie, I'm just applying some newly gained knowledge.

Above is the first of the two that I started.  I may leave it the way it is and call this one done but I'm going to sit on it and see what I think in a few days.

My second piece is a growth from what I learned creating the first.

In both pieces I made a conscious effort to avoid thinking to deeply into my compositional decisions.  While it is obvious that I made compositional choices (as does any artist), I made them much faster then on previous works that predate the sketch.  Along with this quicker pace I used more paint then I ever have.  Until now they have all been primarily pastel.  I enjoy my personal "departure" a lot.  It is all much more experimental and free then before.

Now I need more boards and Stonehenge paper.

This entry goes out to Bill.  Thanks very much for the critique.  It was instant growth.

second painting gets my vote. I like the dark lines outlining the color.

I see Alfred Hitchcock in the second painting:) I really like all your work Zane! You have an amazing eye. We went to see your work at the Tavern opening night. We are so proud of you.

oops, I meant I see him in the first painting. I see lots off cool profiles of women in the second.
